Sustainable travelling
Visit Finland has awarded Ylöstalo the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label in recognition of its long-term and goal-oriented work to promote sustainable tourism. Ylöstalo is the first travel company in Salo to receive the STF label.
The STF label is based on a sustainable travel program developed by Visit Finland. The companies commit to operating in an ecologically, socioculturally, and economically responsible manner. Earning the label requires concrete measures, the measurement of those measures, and continuous improvement.

The Baltic Sea is important for us
Visit Finland commends Ylöstalo for its high-quality application and, in particular, for its determined efforts to advance sustainability:
“Your commitment to advancing sustainability—with a particular focus on the Baltic Sea—through open, honest collaboration and precise action is clearly reflected in your development plan. The development, monitoring, and measurement of your operations are at a high level. The measures have been identified and presented clearly and in a measurable way.”
The Baltic Sea is our environment
Ylöstalo’s sustainability efforts emphasize the preservation of the archipelago’s marine environment. A focus on local communities and practical measures directly impact the state of the environment. These efforts are continuously being developed, and the goals extend far into the future.
The STF label is not a one-time recognition but part of a sustainability journey, the previous milestone of which was the GTS (Green Travel Seal) certification. The company’s measures are regularly monitored and developed, and the next steps will focus specifically on reporting on the achievement of set goals and defining new development measures.

Ylöstalo’s Sustainable Travel Finland label stands for practical sustainability
“This certification confirms that we have chosen the right path. For us, many responsible choices are a matter of course simply because that is how things have always been done. The sea has always been a part of everyday life in Ylöstalo, and that is why it must be preserved for future generations as well.
Local businesses and collaboration with them are becoming an essential part of our commitment to sustainability. Changes in the operating environment, such as the reduced availability of services and businesses closing down, directly impact the vitality of archipelago culture. Cottage guests and summer residents help us, the people of Särkisalo, maintain the archipelago’s services and culture.”
